Who we are

Mermaid Universe is published by Tinge World Publishing, an independent publishing imprint registered in the Netherlands. The Mermaid Movie is a project of ZonKlast Studios.

Who can join

The directory and the casting register are for adults. You must be 18 or over, and the details you give us must be true and your own. A school, pod or company can be listed by someone with authority to speak for it.

We decide what appears on the site. We may decline, edit for length or remove a listing, and we will tell you if we do. We cannot accept listings or orders from places where sanctions or our own legal commitments prevent us from doing business.

Free listings

A free listing shows your name or mersona, country and region, what kind of mermaid or professional you are, your main skills and your languages. It costs nothing and has no end date. Email us to change it or take it down and we will do so.

Member pages and add-ons

A member page and its add-ons are paid services. The prices, and what each one includes, are those shown on the site on the day you order. Prices are in US dollars and the price shown is the full price. Shipping, where it applies, is quoted before you pay.

You pay by a secure pay link, by card, and you get a receipt for every payment. We never see or store your card number.

A membership runs for 12 months from the day your page goes live. It does not renew by itself. Before it ends we send you a renewal link. If you choose not to renew, your page comes down and your free listing stays.

Changing your mind about a paid membership

If you buy as a private person in the EU, the law gives you 14 days to withdraw from something bought online. We apply the same rule to every member, wherever you live.

We don't make you wait 14 days for your page. When you order, you ask us to set it up as soon as you pay. If you then withdraw within 14 days of paying, we refund your payment less a share for the days your page was live, to the card you paid with, within 14 days of hearing from you. Add-ons to your page work the same way.

After 14 days a membership year is not refunded. You can still take your page or listing down at any time.

To withdraw, email Info@TingeWorld.com. These words are enough: "I withdraw from my Mermaid Universe membership," with your name or mersona and the date you ordered.

Printed editions and certificates

A custom edition of the quarterly and a membership certificate are made for one person, with your photos and your name. The law gives no 14-day return on goods made to order, so these can't be cancelled once they have gone to print, or returned afterwards.

If yours arrives damaged or misprinted, or doesn't arrive, tell us and we will put it right.

Single copies of the standard edition are printed and sold by Lulu, under Lulu's own terms. Trade orders are sales between businesses and are agreed by invoice.

Your photos and words

Everything you put on your listing or page stays yours. You give us permission to show it on Mermaid Universe, including as a small picture beside your name in the directory, for as long as your listing is up. We will ask before using it anywhere else, including in the quarterly.

You confirm that you are the person in your photos, or have that person's permission, and that the photographer allows you to use them. Everyone shown in your photos must be 18 or over, and photos must not show nudity or sexual content. Staged scenes are welcome, a party set-up included, and your page links carry visitors on to your own site and socials. Your page must not carry anything unlawful, hateful or misleading about who you are and what you do.

We can remove anything that breaks these rules.

Messages through the site

The contact button on a listing sends a message on to you without showing your email. We do not check who is writing or what they offer. Use your own judgement before you reply, share details or agree to work, and tell us about any message that misuses the service.

Writing for the quarterly

Anyone can submit. You keep the copyright in what you send. By submitting you offer us the right to publish the piece once in the print quarterly and to quote from it on the site. We confirm with you before anything is printed. Being a member makes publication more likely. A published piece carries your byline and a link to your page or site. Any fee is agreed with you in writing beforehand.

The casting register

The register is a list of people we may approach for the Mermaid Movie. It is free, and being on it is not an offer of a role or of work. Any role is agreed separately and in writing with ZonKlast Studios.

The Pearl Awards

Nomination is free. The rules for nominations, voting and winners are published on the site when nominations open.

Our own content

The site, the quarterly and the Mermaid Universe, Pearl Awards and Mermaid Movie names belong to Tinge World Publishing and Stephannie Kaye Jones unless we say otherwise. You may quote and share with credit. Please ask before reproducing or republishing.

What we are responsible for

Mermaid Universe is a place to be found. We do not promise bookings, roles or features, and we are not a party to any agreement between you and someone who contacts you. We are responsible for delivering what you paid us for. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live. We would always prefer to sort things out by email first.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and a change never applies to a membership year you have already paid for. Questions go to Info@TingeWorld.com.
